Quechee, VT – 09.05.14
After Burlington, we headed towards Quechee, Vermont for a very necessary family weekend. My (Toni’s) family drove about two hours to meet us at a campground three minutes from the beautiful Quechee Gorge. Mum, Aunty Sharon, Aunty Patty, and my sister Lex all crammed into a small cabin across the campground. They brought us our favorite pizza, Town Spa, and we spent our first night around the campfire stuffing our faces, sipping yummy drinks, and talking about our journey thus far. We spent the rest of the weekend exploring the local shops, hiking to the Quechee Gorge, dipping our feet in the water, and getting treated to a dinner out. Since we barely have any photos of us all together we spent some time on some family portraits with Dan. Sunday involved exploring Woodstock, a quaint town just down the road and catching up with my Aunty Penny who lives nearby.
The sun started to set while we were eating ice cream on a set of stairs, and I started to get sad all over again. As tears dripped into my ice cream cone I couldn’t stop thinking about how lucky I really am. Not a lot of people are fortunate enough to be able to grow around the people I call my family. They have made me who I am today and are the reason I have the strength and wings to be on the journey that we write about every week.
I love you all to the moon and back.
-Toni
